Victory at Fjerritslev Lan
Our CS: GO team met the expectations for the weekend’s tournament at Fjerritslev Gymnasium, and sealed the prize pool of 5000 kroner and a spot in the League of Sharks.
The top spot in Fjerritslev Lan was secured after a great victory in the final against dopexx, but during the tournament the team had several problems finding their best game. The explanation must be found in the teams mentality, Rasmus “FaagaN” Thomsen explains:
– We have a hard time carrying the favorite role. We have also seen this in other tournaments, and we work a lot to get that problem solved. The players may think that it will be walk overs, and they start to relax a bit, and then you will be punished, explains FaagaN, who could see his team raise the level further on in the tournament:
– It became a wake-up call for us, as we did not hit the level in the first matches, so we discussed our tactics and agreements and tried to tighten focus, and then everything went better, explains the coach.
AGF were favorites before the tournament, but it was the dopexx team that turned out best in the preliminary rounds. dopexx beat Kolding Esport 16-3 before AaB Esport was beaten 2-1 in maps, and therefore were up against us in the upper bracket final.
The Upperbracket final was surprisingly won by dopexx 2-0 against us, and they qualified for the final. We had meat HFK Esport to qualify for the final whom we beat 16-3.
dopexx waited again in the final. This time we performed better and sealed a 2-1 victory.
– It was an important confidence boost for the boys. If we had not won, everyone would have had thoughts like: “What did I do wrong? Am I not good enough?” Now we leave with faith in our own abilities. It’s an important boost before the League of Sharks, FaagaN says.
The League of Sharks takes place at Parken next weekend. Eight teams participate, all of whom have qualified through other tournaments in the country. The prize pool is worth 40,000 kroner, so hopefully the CS: GO crew can fight for another victory:
– The tournament starts with four quarter finals, so first of all we want to reach the semifinals, and then we have to see what happens. I think teams like Unknown and Atlando are our biggest competitors, and we are quite equal, so it is all about performing on the day, explains FaagaN.
The League of Sharks takes place on Saturday the 2 of March.
