Primeturbo: It was a heartbreaking defeat

Our FIFA team performed brilliantly in this year’s eSuperliga, but a last minut goal from Brøndby made it a tough exit in the semis.

N1ller and Fatih Üstun have played some very entertaining mathes this season, and they started the finals in Forum by beating FC Midtjylland 7-3. Brøndby was the opponent in the semis, and we were just a few seconds away from victory when Fredberg scored in the end of the game and took BIF to the final against Vejle instead. A final they won afterwards.

Coach Lars ‘Primeturbo’ Korreborg felt terrible, when he saw the ball in our net, but is satisfied with our performance.

– I am heartbroken by the result as it was just two seconds from a final. However, I’m proud of the boys’ performance during the season, and I’m glad we finished the group game on top of the table. I actually felt we were the best playing team in the playoff, he says.

The team always communicate a lot before, under and after the matches to develop their game, and Korreborg explains how they prepared for the matches in Forum.

– Both players had a big influence on how things should be if we won the cointoss. We did what they told me they felt most comfortable with and I listened to the boys and the games were tactically played to perfection, but unfortunately it was not enough. The sharpness was the only thing missing in the box, and that’s exactly what FIFA is all about. The game in the middle of the pitch can be irrelevant, unfortunately, he explains.

Overall the first ever eSuperliga has proven to be an interesting competition, and our team has participated in some of the most entertaining showdowns.

– I think the season has been beyond all expectations. When Fatih couldn’t play the last five rounds both Frederik and I showed the class and won our matches. We played fantastic in the playoff, but that was not enough. However, we reached our goal with a top four ranking in the playoffs, and we are very pleased with that, Korreborg says.

Now the team can relax a bit after some intense weeks, and then we have to prepare for the next season.

– The team had a good first season but I actually don’t expect the same performance next year. The important thing is to build stability, and we have already started doing that. Now we see how things are going, but we must be a solid team in the top eight. That’s easier said than done and we must go into every match with great respect, because the league will definitely be much harder in the next season, the coach tells.

This year’s eSuperliga was won by Brøndby IF. The total prize pool was 365,000 kroner, which was divided among the eight best teams.
